Aurora, Ill. – State Representative Stephanie Kifowit (D-Oswego) delivered the keynote address at the 2024 Week Zero Warmup scrimmage hosted by Oswego School District 308’s FIRST Robotics Competition Team 2338: Gear it Forward. “As Chair of the Personnel and Pensions Committee, I would like to thank the Governor for his proposal to address the Pension situation in the State of Illinois. I appreciate the hard work of the members of the pension committee and look forward to continuing to work on pension policy that is respectful of the hard working employees of the state of Illinois and fiscally responsible for the state budget.” “Our state has made good strides toward fiscal responsibility in recent years, and we must continue this momentum. Property taxes and pensions are two of my main priorities in Springfield, and I will ensure that the voices of residents on these topics are properly represented in budget discussions. In addition, it is critical that we focus on supporting our classrooms, invest in public safety and pursue a balanced approach that respects taxpayers. I’m particularly interested in seeing how we can strengthen health care access – especially for our Veterans and seniors. This initiative aims to provide constituents in the 84th House District with enriching educational experiences by offering complimentary access to some of Chicagoland's most renowned museums and zoos.
Residents of the 84th District are encouraged to take advantage of this unique opportunity to explore these world-class institutions with their families. Representative Kifowit emphasizes the importance of lifelong learning and the value of cultural enrichment for constituents of all ages. "If we want to foster a community of engaged and educated individuals, it's crucial to provide access to diverse educational resources," said Kifowit. "I'm thrilled to continue offering the Constituent Education Resource Card program, which enables families in the 84th District to experience the wealth of knowledge and inspiration available at these outstanding museums and zoos.” The resource card provides free admission for up to four people at the following participating institutions: SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – This week, Illinois State Representative Stephanie Kifowit (D-Oswego) introduced a bill aimed at improving workplace information for Veterans across the state. The proposed legislation mandates the creation and distribution of a comprehensive Veterans and service members' benefits, services, and protections poster by the Department of Veterans Affairs, made available by the Department of Labor.
"Ensuring that our Veterans have access to the information and resources they deserve is a fundamental duty,” said Kifowit. “By enhancing awareness through this poster initiative, we take a significant step towards supporting our Veterans in their transition to civilian life. It's about honoring their commitment to our country by making essential information readily available in their workplaces."  BATAVIA, Ill. – State Representative Stephanie Kifowit (D-Oswego) joined a distinguished panel of Veterans Affairs leaders for the Batavia VFW Veterans Town Hall, hosted by the Kane County Veterans Assistance Commission. The event, which took place on Friday, February 2nd at 4:30 p.m., was held at the Batavia Overseas VFW Post 1197.
